SCENT. One thing I always try to bring back home from my travels is a perfume or scented candle. For me, there’s such a strong connection between memories and scents that just a sniff of a certain fragrance brings me back in an instant. During my trip to Mexico I made sure to stop by the wonderful boutique hotel/perfumery Coqui Coqui (definitely a must if you’re ever in Tulum!) and stocked up on two lovely scents that will keep me daydreaming about Tulum for months. Or well, at least until the bottles run out which might happen pretty soon, these scents are heaven!
BACK. Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know that I’m not dead, but sadly, my computer is. It crashed the day after I got home from Mexico, but luckily enough, I had backups on almost everything so nothing important got lost. Fingers crossed that my new computer will arrive soon, I have so many photos to share with you!
Anyway, here’s a bunch of pictures we shot during the first couple of days in Mexico. I’m wearing a 60′s inspired dress (love!) from Emerson Fry’s s/s 14 collection, Céline sunnies and my beloved clutch from Anya Hindmarch. More pictures below!
MEXICO. Sorry for the radio silence guys! I’m currently in beautiful Tulum, Mexico, on a well needed 2 week escape from chilly NY. This place is absolutely magical and I have so many pictures + memories to share with you guys when I get back home. Until then, follow me on instagram @carolinaengman for lots of pictures!
SWEATER LOVE. This raglan knit from Emerson Fry has been a real life saver during my travels these past couple of weeks. I’m a jeans and sweater girl at heart, and this one is definitely as close to perfect as it gets. Super comfy, slightly oversized and made from the softest italian wool you can imagine. Definitely one of my favorite basics!
SJP. Get a glimpse inside Sarah Jessica Parker’s gorgeous New York brownstone in this cute little video interview where she answers 73 questions for Vogue. I totally wish I had enough space for a ping-pong table in my livingroom, genius! Check out the video + more pictures below:
BACK IN BLACK. After traveling for a month straight, I’m finally back in NY and I have to say it feels pretty great to sleep in my own bed again Those of you who follow me on Instagramknow that I spent a couple of days in London for a photoshoot with Harrods & bunch of lovely ladies last week and I can’t wait to show you guys the result next month. Until then, here are some pictures we shot during NYFW that I never got around posting. The black palazzo pants are definitely a new favorite in my closet!

HAIR. When they say cutting your hair is addictive, they’re not lying. Ever since I chopped of my long hair in the beginning of the year, I’ve been wanting to go a bit shorter, and last week I finally booked an appointment at the hairdresser. Love my new shorter do!
PEARL EARRING Sophie Bille Brahe (here). SWEATER & Other Stories. JEANSJ Brand. LIPSTICK Max Factor ‘Ruby Tuesday’.
THURSDAY. Whenever I get sick of my clothes, I head over to Mattias closet and steal something amazing, like this peacoat I “borrowed” the other day. It’s a bit too big on me, but paired with a belt it’s just the right kind of oversized!
P.S. Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday, you guys are SO sweet!
TWO IN ONE. The key to packing light when traveling is to bring versatile pieces that can be worn in lots of different ways and the leather jacket above is a genius example of a multipurpose item. Technically, it’s actually a leather dress, but when worn unbuttoned, it turns into this awesome, short-sleeved leather jacket. Boom, two in one!
LEATHER DRESS WORN AS JACKET Rebecca Minkoff (on sale here!). KNIT Gant. SUNGLASSES Céline. JEANS J brand ‘AlanaCrop‘. BAG Kurt Geiger. WATCH Michael Kors (here). SHOES Jimmy Choo ‘Abel‘.
NEW IN. Last month I did a huge closet clean out and pretty much got rid of everything I haven’t worn in the past year or two (with the exception of a few pieces with sentimental value that I just couldn’t bring myself to give up). Since that day, my focus has been on adding some missing must-haves, like for instance, a pair of classic black patent pumps. Queue the Jimmy Choo ‘Abel‘ pump. These babies took me from shows, to meetings, to parties during London fashion week without giving me a single blister and are pretty much the shoe equivalent of a little black dress! Next on my list? The perfect pair of black everyday boots..
LFW. Sorry about the radio silence guys! We arrived in Stockholm last Monday and after an intense week of meetings and trying to squeeze in dinners with as many friends as possible, I came down with a cold. We were originally supposed to head back to NY this morning but decided to extend our stay with two weeks and I’m super excited to get to spend some more time in my hometown.
Right now I’m wrapped up in 100 layers of cashmere while trying to go through all of the pictures we took in London. These ones were shot on a particularly windy day (pretty sure I actually levitated off the ground at one point) and I love how mysterious they look in black & white!

LONDON. After two cancelled flights, lots of delays and over 30 hours sans sleep, I’m finally in London and I can’t put into words how much I’ve missed this city! This morning I was finally reunited with my BFF Andywhom I haven’t seen for 6 insanely long months which we celebrated with some afternoon tea at Liberty’s. I’m only in town for a couple of days before heading to Stockholm on Monday but really wish I could stay longer. London is one of my absolute favorite cities and I’m beyond excited for this weekend. Follow me on instagram @carolinaengman for lots of pictures from my London adventures!
NYFW. Today marks the first day of New York Fashion Week and of course, the streets are covered in ice. Ran a little late to my first show this morning (cabs during NYFW = nightmare) and probably looked like Bambi on ice while sliding my way through the crowds outside Lincoln Center, but thankfully, I made it there on time and in one piece!
Hopefully I’ll get a couple of minutes this afternoon to shoot todays outfit but until then, here’s a picture we snapped the other day. This menswear-inspired tuxedo dress from McQ Alexander McQueen is one of the latest additions to my wardrobe and I absolutely love the structured tailoring, so sleek! Played around with the silhouette and layered the dress over a pair of pants and actually really liked the result. Turns out, dresses over pants aren’t actually that bad!
FEBRUARY. The weather gods seems to be having a though time making up their minds about the NYC weather. Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny spring day and this morning the snow was falling down again, arghhh. Was kind of hoping the weather would clear up in time for fashion week, but apparently not. Oh well, at least I got to wear my new boots for one day!
LEATHER JACKET Hunkydory. CASHMERE SWEATER Uniqlo (similar one here). JEANS J brand. BOOTS Balenciaga (here). BAG Proenza Schouler (here).
PEARLS. I’m a huge fan of simple earrings with a twist and Sophie Bille Brahe really nailed it with this modern take on the classic pearl earring. Thank you for the best anniversary gift ever, my love!

HELLO THERE. I know most people have a love/hate relationship with these boots, I did too, until I saw them on Eva Chen during a Lucky shoot a couple of months ago and fell in love. Of course, they were sold out everywhere and just when I had started coming to terms with the fact that I would probably never get my hands on them, I decided to stop by the Balenciaga store in Soho, and wham, in front of me stood the boots that had haunted my dreams for months. Turns out, they had one pair left in my size which clearly was a sign from the shoe gods to whip out the credit card and live on noodles for a while. Now if only it could stop snowing!
STUPID SNOW. We’ve had some pretty mild, snow free days here in NY and I’ve enjoyed every single one of them (my ankles weren’t even a tad bit cold when we shot these pictures the other day!). I had just started getting my hopes up that winter would magically take a rain check and re-appear next year, but sadly that does not appear to be the case. When I opened up my blinds this morning, the damn snow was pouring down. Crap! Yes, it makes the city look really pretty, but it ruins all the fun (when I show you guys my latest purchase, you will understand my frustration..)
P.S. Will be uploading some new things on my sale shop today as my new purchase left a gigantic hole in my wallet, stay tuned!

PUT A BELT ON IT. I got the inspiration for this little DIY after seeing how Vintagepiken stores her magazines and thought I had to share it with you guys since it’s probably the easiest DIY of all times. I have tons of fashion & interior design magazines laying around my apartment and this is such a neat way of organizing/displaying them. All you need are two belts to strap around your magazines, and voila, done. I got my belts at H&M, but if you already have some at home, they’ll work just as good!
SPRING FEELINGS. Obsessed with these pictures of Daria from the february issue of Harper’s Bazaar US. The all white looks feel so refreshing after a winter filled with black, black, black (although I definitely wouldn’t mind that oversized, black leather jacket in the second picture, come to mama!). Will definitely be saving these pictures as inspiration for when the weather finally starts heating up!
THURSDAY. I was so bummed when I missed out on the Céline inspired, limited edition skateboards that Jayne from Stop it right now created back in 2011 and have been on the hunt for one since. Luckily enough, a few of the decks popped up on her shop again just before Christmas, and it took me about 2 seconds to whip out my credit card and order one. It truly is a work of art and I love the pop of color it brings to my mostly black/white home!
COATS. Decided to dust off this good ol’ camel coat that I found at a Zara sale a couple of years ago and take it out for a spin. I didn’t know it then, but over the years it has become one of my favorite coats (tied first place with this stunning ivory one from Emerson Fry) and I’m so happy I didn’t leave it on the rack when I saw the insane line to the register at Zara that day, definitely worth queuing 30 minutes for!

LOVE. Surprisingly enough I didn’t really do much shopping during my stay in Stockholm, but one thing I brought back with me to NY was this awesome leather jacketfrom the Swedish brand Hunkydory. Love the fit + the large silver buttons!
LOVE. Chloé really nailed it with their Resort 2014 collection and this look in particular really makes my heart skip a beat. The crisp white shirt, the nude cage heels and those amazing two-tone pants, pure genius! This is exactly what I want to be wearing for spring and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the high-street gods will produce something similar as the pants are a tiny bit out of my budget so to speak..
STHLM. During our trip to Stockholm we stayed a couple of days at the lovely Scandic Grand Central where the picture above was shot, and it’s safe to say that I fell head over heels in love with those large, beautiful windows. Just imagine spending your weekends cuddled up with a blanket, some tea and a book on that window sill, sounds pretty amazing if you ask me.
We had so much fun during the trip that our two weeks litterally flew by, but we managed to snap a bunch of pictures for a little photo diary that you can check out below. Have a great weekend everyone!
STHLM. Got back from Stockholm the other day and even though it feels great to be back in NY, I still miss my old hometown a lot. Isn’t it funny how the simple things you take for granted in your home country suddenly comes to mean so much to you when moving abroad? Like enjoying a perfect, fresh-out-of-the-oven, Swedish cinnamon roll and a cup of coffee with friends & family on a cold and rainy day for example. Ask any Swede and you’ll learn just how serious we are about our “fika” (Fika roughly translates to coffee break, but really, it’s so much more than a mere coffebreak!). That, and taking your shoes off when you enter someones home, because why on earth would you wear your dirty shoes inside? My American friends laugh their butts of everytime I remove my shoes while hanging out at their place, but that’s just how Swedes roll. These pictures where shot at the lovely café at Scandic Grand Central on one of those rainy days and let me tell you, that was one hell of a cinnamon roll!

BEST OF. 2013 is coming to an end and it has truly been one of the most exciting years of my life. I’ve been blessed with great work oportunities, met new amazing people and of course, made the jump and moved across the Atlantic to my new hometown, New York. All in all, I would say it’s been a pretty spectacular year and 2014 has some pretty large shoes to fill, but I have no doubt that next year will be equally wonderful. Thank you so, so much for continuing to follow my adventures on the blog, I don’t say it enough but it really means the world to me. So, with these pictures we say goodbye to 2013, and I wish all of you a magical 2014!
NYFW. Thought it was about time that I got around posting this little photo diary from New York fashion week, can’t believe how fast time went. In just a couple of weeks it’s time for NYFW again and I can’t wait to have all of my friends in town!
BLACK. Right now I’m preparing a little photo diary from New York Fashion Week (better late than never, right?) and found these pictures of me wearing the most insane Burberry leather trench coat that I got to borrow during fashion week. Pure love!
FRIDAY. So sorry about the radio silence guys, I’ve had so much catching up to do with friends & family that I’ve had to put the blog on hold for a couple of days. I’ve also managed to get myself a long overdue haircut and all I can say is, why didn’t I do it sooner?! Love my new shorter do!
ZZZZ.I think I hit the snooze button about twenty times this morning before finally getting out of bed, but it was just so darn cozy! I totally would have spent all day in bed wearing my favorite pajama if I could, but tomorrow I’m flying to Stockholm for two weeks and there’s A LOT that has to get done before that.
So, here are 10 gorgeous bedrooms we can daydream about instead! Which one is your favorite?
Happy Friday everyone, can’t believe the weekend is already around the corner! Above are some of my favorite jewelry of the moment, all from my collection for Cooee. When I designed these pieces I wanted to create something timeless that would look just as good during the day with a pair of worn out boyfriend jeans and a leather jacket, as they would with a little black dress and a pair of sky high heels, and I love the way they turned out!
The ones above are made from gold plated brass (my favorites!) and they also come in a beautiful sterling silver version. You’ll find the full collection here as well as in the stores listed below!
MONDAY. Found these good ol’ pictures from a couple of magical days spent with Nanette Lepore’s lovely family in the Hamptons this summer and thought they might brighten up this dull, grey Monday a bit! Already daydreaming myself back to sunset swims, bonfires and candlelit dinners underneath the stars..
HOME. One thing I’ll never, ever get tired of is waking up to this view. Watching the sun slowly rise over the sky high buildings in the morning is pure magic. The gorgeous bedding was an early Christmas present that arrived the other day and let’s just say I don’t plan on getting out of bed at all today, so cozy!
P.S. For more inspiration, check out my Pinterest.
THURSDAY. The weather in NY has been unusually kind to us these past couple of days, but I’m pretty sure this was the last time I wore a leather jacket this year, brrrr. In about two weeks I’m flying to Stockholm to celebrate Christmas with my family and let’s just say I’m beyond excited to go back to my hometown for a couple of weeks!

SKIN CARE. After being introduced to this moisturizer by a japanese makeup artist a couple of years ago, I’ve been an avid user of Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré. I have very sensitive skin that tends to get a little bit on the dry side during winter and this little gem helps keeping it smooth and soft through out the colder months of the year. You’ll find it here!
MONDAY. Hope all of you had a great weekend! I spent mine showing my sister (who’s visiting NY for the first time) around town and rediscovering the city with her has been a blast! Now, one of the perks of having my sister visting me is getting to borrow (steal) some of her stuff, like this good ol’ Louis Vuitton bag I snagged from her the other day. Any chance you would be up for shared custody sis?

WEDNESDAY. Today I’ve been lounging around in my striped Comme des Garcons top, a pair of worn out boyfriend jeans and the cross necklace (my favorite!) from the collection I designed for Cooee, pretty much my go-to comfy look when working from home. Tomorrow I’m celebrating Thanksgiving with a bunch of friends and in case I don’t have time to update the blog in the morning, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

TUESDAY. Can’t believe how cold it’s starting to get outside! Being swedish and all, one would think I’d be used to cold weather by now but sadly that’s not the case at all. The hunt for the perfect winter jacket (something like this would be ideal) is still on but until then this coat + cozy wool knit from Gant will my best friends!

HOME. I know I’ve promised you pictures of my New York apartment a million times but believe it or not, I’m still not 100% done decorating it. When Mattias and I moved here we decided not to bring any of our old furniture from Stockholm with us (shipping it across the Atlantic seemed like too much work) and pretty much started from scratch, so it’s been a slow process to say the least.
Anyway, things are finally starting to come together so I thought I’d share this picture of what our living room (my favorite part of our apartment!) currently looks like. I’m by no means an expert when it comes to interior design but it’s one of my biggest passions and I’ve been having a blast decorating our new home!
