Currently loving Karlie Kloss in Oscar de la Renta

Currently loving Karlie Kloss in Oscar de la Renta Karlie Kloss Oscar de la Renta 620x421

On Valentine’s Day, Vlad and I will be spending the evening with Karlie Kloss along with other beautiful models at the Oscar de la Renta show. It is the perfect evening for me as I love being taken into the dream world that Oscar creates season after season and obviously for Vlad as he gets to photograph the top models in the industry. My current model crush is Karlie Kloss who walks and works the runway magically.

Wearing one of my favorite looks from Oscar de la Renta, this Red Silk Taffeta Strapless Gown could not look more perfect on Karlie. This look is the definition of fierce and it is precisely what I am coveting and loving today. Via Oscar de la Renta for $4,990.

Look for Less: Lips Clutch

Look for Less: Lips Clutch lips clutches

You know how they say time flies when you’re having fun? I am certain that this is both cliche and true, as I have no idea how it is nearly the middle of February. For the fashion world, this means Fashion Week (aka month) is here, and for the rest of the world it means Valentine’s day is upon us. As much as I love getting gifts, I look forward to putting together a Valentine’s outfit more than anything.

I’ve been obsessing over the Lulu Guiness Lips Clutch for years and I am not the only one. My mom went gaga for this clutch and Vlad and I bought it for her for Christmas this year. This novelty item is cutesy without being over-the-top. It would make for a great Valentine’s day gift but also for the perfect clutch to carry to your romantic Valentine’s day dinner. But if you love this look and want a look for less, we found the perfect option.

Felix Rey is constantly providing accessory lovers with funky products and right when I saw the Felix Rey Kissy Face Mesh Clutch, I immediately thought of the infamous Lulu Guiness Lips Clutch. The dimensions of both are very similar as is the look of both items. For hundreds less you can nab the lips clutch style, but if you ask me, I’d go for one of the original Lulu Guiness versions, of which there are plenty. Shop the Lulu Guiness Lips clutch for $465 via Lulu Guiness online and buy the Felix Rey option for $119 via ShopBop.

Sunday Funday: Giants Manicure with Alexander Wang Football Clutch Giants Manicure Football Clutch 620x465Shop Alexander Wang bags via ShopBop

I am much more of a college football fan than I am a pro-football fan, but since moving to New York City, I’ve begun embracing the Giants and will cheer them on tonight. I love Super Bowl Sundays for the commercials, food, and casual clothing. To show my support for the team I am rooting for, I gave myself a Giants manicure, and to finish off the perfect football Sunday look, I am carrying my oddly amazing Alexander Wang Football Clutch. A total novelty bag, this football shaped clutch from Alexander Wang is the perfect accessory for Superbowl Sunday.

What team are you cheering for?

February Birthday Gift Guide: Amethyst Accessories

The month of Valentine’s Day, Fashion Week, and my anniversary is upon us. This month also holds all February birthday babies, whose birthstone is a gorgeous, deep purple amethyst. Purple is one of my favorite colors, as it works as a deep neutral in place of black or brown.

From the chicest Beats by Dr. Dre headphones that I have ever seen to a luxurious phone case to the best purple bags out there right now, I have nine birthday gift ideas for the February birthday girls in your life.

Bottega Veneta Relaxed Lambskin Satchel | $3,400 via Neiman Marcus

There is something very different about the shape of this bag, but the extremely supple leather is sure to grab your attention from the get-go. Because of its shape, this bag is meant to carry everything and anything one might need.

Fendi Zucca-Flap Baguette | $1,520 via Neiman Marcus

As we said earlier, Fendi is trying to bring their Baguette bags back. I love the ornate versions, but a simple leather Baguette may be just what a February birthday baby needs.

Proenza Schouler PS1 Medium Satchel | $1,595 via Net-A-Porter

I apologize to all who are sick of the PS1, but this is not only a fan favorite but one of my favorite bags ever. The cool schoolboy bag is super feminine but still has every bit of pizazz needed to become your go-to bag.

Oscar de la Renta Beats by Dr. Dre | $695 via OscardelaRenta.com

From the moment I heard Oscar was partnering to make the most luxurious Beats by Dr. Dre ever, I decided I most certainly needed a pair. Covered in luxe plum silver fox, this is the perfect gift for the girl who loves listening to music and has everything.

Dolce & Gabbana Sequined Shoulder Bag | $1,375 via Net-A-Porter

I know there are plenty of February birthday girls who love to sparkle and shine, and Dolce & Gabbana has just the bag. This bag also makes a fun Valentine’s day present, hint hint.

Gucci Jackie Medium Hobo | $1,890 via Neiman Marcus

I’ve got a Gucci obsession that I don’t share as much as I should. A classic hobo with a longer shoulder strap and the perfectly sized body makes me crush hard on this iconic bag.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Take Me Tote | $358 via ShopBop

Marc by Marc should be considered for options all the time, including this gift guide. While this tote is simple, it is entirely practical and even looks cute.

Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Bag | $525 via Rebecca Minkoff

A cult favorite, the Morning After Bag is the bag that started it all for Rebecca Minkoff. In a luscious plum hue, this bag is meant to go from day to night to morning.

Hermes HigHtecH | $420 via Hermes

Hermes knows the ladies want to bring luxurious leather into every aspect of their life, including phone covers. For a very simplistic look and feel but high quality leather, the HigHtechH Blackberry cases from Hermes are timeless.

Weekend Obsession: Michael Kors Hamilton Handbag for Great East Japan Earthquake Relief

I’m continually surprised by the huge number of Michael Kors bags that I see women carrying in every city that I visit. One of the most recognizable bags from the line is the Michael Kors Hamilton, which has been issued in nearly countless colors, sized and materials. The version above may be the most exciting, though; like other designers, MK is always giving back and after the tragic earthquake in Japan, Michael decided to help.

MK debuted a limited edition Hamilton handbag in support of the Great East Japan Earthquake relief effort during Fashion’s Night out in Tokyo and to follow its success, the U.S. will launch this bag for a 24 hour period starting tomorrow, Monday January 22nd. The bag will be available only through a link from the Michael Kors facebook page and in select Michael Kors retail stores.

The designer will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the bag to support relief efforts for the Great East Japan Earthquake via the Japanese Red Cross Society. While many only give a portion of proceeds to causes, I find it entirely commendable that Michael Kors will give 100%.

The bag is the coveted Hamilton in a deep berry-colored matte embossed python finish. A keychain is attached that will serve as a reminder of those in Japan with a series of MK logo and “Michael Hearts Japan” charms. Not only is this bag for a great cause, but it truly is a great looking bag. Check the Michael Kors facebook page tomorrow for more details.

9 Things: The Best Neon Bags for Spring

Bright bags are big statement pieces and for this season, neon is all the rage. I’ve attempted to wear neon clothing items but I have never found the colors to be very flattering on me, and that is of course why I turn to accessories to take part of the trend in a way that works for me.

I scoured the interwebs to find the 9 best neon bags and I am certain I have a great selection. Including a taste of every color of the rainbow, our favorite designers are splashing their accessories with hues that are sure to be attention-grabbing bags for this season.

Mulberry Small Bayswater Shoulder Bag | $1,100 via Net-A-Porter
You can’t leave out purple and the iconic Mulberry Bayswater caught my eye. I love the smaller size with the longer optional shoulder strap which makes it both compact and versatile.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Natasha Leather Shoulder Bag | $370 via Net-A-Porter
A very wearable shape in fresh bright-green leather, this bag screams spring and will transition to summer seamlessly. I’m not a green color girl, but if I were, I’d love this bag.

Lanvin Colorblock Happy Shoulder Bag | $2,090 via Neiman Marcus
Lanvin Happy Shoulder Bag is both elegant and feminine. Amanda and I are huge chartreuse fans and this Lanvin bag puts a smile on my face from ear to ear.

Proenza Schouler PS1 Snakeskin Clutch | $1,735 via Net-A-Porter
Proenza Schouler gets two spots in our round-up because the brand is just that good. What makes you feel warm and fuzzy more than lime-green snakeskin on day to evening clutch?

Emilio Pucci Python shoulder bag | $2,850 via Net-A-Porter
The moment I saw this bag, I fell in love. It has a sleek Celine feel on the outside with a fun printed lining hiding within. The size meets the ladylike structured bag criteria while being large enough to carry for daily use and the shocking neon pink python skin is perfectly girly.

Alexander Wang Prisma Leather Tote | $685 via Net-A-Porter
I’ve been wanting to scoop up this bag since the moment I laid eyes on it. The perfect azure-blue leather with rhodium corners can carry everyday essentials and look way too cool while doing so. The price is very reasonable too.

Proenza Schouler PS1 Medium Suede | $1,595 via Barneys
The more bags I buy and use, the more the amazing brands stand out. Proenza Schouler is one of the designers that sticks with what they know and does so extraordinarily well. The quality is top notch and the colors they constantly churn out are top of the game. The green hue is a bit muted but still works well for this trend.

Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Silk-moire Knot Clutch | $1,650 via Net-A-Porter
Bottega Veneta is known for its elegant Knot Clutch, and the elongated version with turquoise silk intrecciato will remind you and everyone that sees this bag of the Caribbean.

Diane von Furstenberg Mini Disco Stephanie Clutch | $365 via Neiman Marcus
Diane von Furstenberg released the Stephanie a few years ago and this bag has become a fan favorite. I only own the large version, but the Mini Disco is delightfully chic and the perfect small accessory option. Bright orange and silver leather will help get the party started.

I have a crush on an $800 Coach handbag

I have shared this before, but my first ever handbag was a Coach bag. From that day forward I was hooked on bags and it clearly changed my life going forward, as I get to talk about the accessories I love every day. While many designers have come in and out of my collection, Coach will always have a special place in my heart. Over the past few years, Coach has churned out higher quality and priced items season after season. The true Coachies (a name given to Coach bag lovers by our loyal Coach PurseForum members) have grown with the brand and found the collections that they love most.

For $800, brands like Alexander Wang and Louis Vuitton can be purchased, but right now I am crushing on the Coach Pinnacle Leather Allie.

The leather is sure to be richly textured and the smooth and pebbled combination will give a nice tonal effect. The reason this shoulder bag stands out so much is because of its custom buckles, exotic framing detail, and the leather belting. The bag is quite spacious, 18″ x 7″ x 15″ and has a nice shoulder drop of 11.5″. I see this bag working well for the young professional to the empty-nest mother.

I really like how elegant this bag looks, perfect for those who love the brand but are not looking for a monogrammed bag. But my question comes in about the price. I am not one for sticker-shock but I do realize that $800 is high when many people think about Coach. Is this something that you appreciate as they continue to expand or does it turn you off from the brand? Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $798.

A look at the Chanel Spring-Summer 2012 Ad Campaign

Chanel’s 2012 Spring-Summer Ad Campaign combines a mixture of entirely majestic with a touch of athletic to showcase the upcoming collection. Shot by Karl Lagerfeld, the campaign focuses on the clothing and accessories being portrayed in a very elegant manner, as the models pose on different athletic (mostly gymnastic) apparatuses.

I adore these photos and think Karl was completely correct to deliver the photos in black and white. I was immediately drawn in and have yet to feel uninspired by a single photo. Chanel is known for its timeless appeal and not only does the clothing and bags show that they will stand the test of time, but just as equally the photos do.

Sunday Funday: Newspaper Manicure

2011 was a year where I began my nail polish obsession. I always enjoyed a good manicure but I never loved painting my own nails and I relied on salons to get the job done. I owned all of 5 polishes. But then something clicked and I became obsessed, and went from owning 5 polishes to now owning over 250 polishes. This is an intense addiction, but it is one where I actually use everything that I buy. I change my manicure every few days and try new polishes and new techniques.

Last week, I asked on Twitter what kind of manicure I should give myself and ginnnyna suggested a newspaper manicure. Truth be told, I never heard of this before but decided to do a google search and see what I could find out. The technique is simple and the finished design is totally nifty.

Also, I have been going bananas for rings and bracelets recently. Because my bags are held by hand, I love making them stand out even more by upping up my accessory game. Both rings in the photo are from Plukka and I am completely obsessed. If you love unique jewelry, check out their website which has a really interesting set up: what they make is what you want and the more people that order an item the less it costs each person.

How to:

1. Start off by picking a light colored polish to paint your nails. I choose to put one coat of OPI Apline Snow followed by two coats of Chanel Pearl Drop (511) to give a true white with a touch of shimmer.

2. Let the polish dry completely.

3. Cut 10 small strips of newspaper (large enough to cover your fingernails).

4. Get a small plastic bowl (one you don’t plan to eat out of) and pour a bit of rubbing alcohol inside.

5. Dunk one nail in the rubbing alcohol and let it submerge completely for 5 seconds.

6. Place a newspaper strip on top of that nail and press down firmly and evenly for 15-20 seconds.

7. Remove strip and repeat for all nails.

8. Finish each nail with a top coat to protect and seal the newspaper print.

Easy as that!

Since nails and bags go hand in hand, literally, I plan to bring more manicure ideas and accessory tips to you this year. Vlad is trying to talk me into filming how-to videos, and while I completely dislike hearing my voice played back to me, it could be really fun. What do you think?

Fill in the Blank: The Valentino Rockstud Panther Print Calf Hair Tote is…

I’ve already got Fashion Week on my mind and one of my favorite things about Fashion Week is bag stalking. Come February, editors, buyers, and miscellaneous cool people alike will be hitting Lincoln Center both wearing and carrying their finest.

I have plenty of handbags in my arsenal, but sometimes an oddly different bag stands out and grabs my attention. This is precisely what this Valentino bag has done to me, lured me in and left me wanting more.

However, I realize not everyone loves the urban jungle feel of this panther-print calf hair tote with serious stud embellishments. Help us out and tell us what you think! Buy via Net-A-Porter for $2,995.

Want it Wednesday: Chanel Sport

You wouldn’t think the words Chanel and Sport would go together. Leave it to Chanel to make traditional sporty items incredibly chic by adding their luxury touches. While there are countless items in their sports category, it seems that none of these are currently available. I even searched on eBay and had no luck tracking down the amazing yet silly Chanel rugby football.

Why do I want these items, you ask? Well, because I am one of those people that buys into hilarious over-priced gimmicks and wants to place them around my house and office. I’d much rather use a set of Chanel hand weights as paperweights than the usual offerings. Yesterday, I found myself desperately seeking the Chanel football and hand-weights, but since they are from 2007, they are nowhere to be found. All that means is that this Wednesday I am truly wanting these items and I also can’t have them. That is the worst combination ever. If Chanel is listening, all I ask is that you create more items that I don’t need but I seriously want.

January Birthday Gift Guide: Garnet Handbags

Just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean gift-giving has ended. There are so many other opportunities for us to shop for ourselves and others, one major event being birthdays. For 2012, we will be making birthday gift guides to help you choose the bag you want to ask for or want to give.

Garnet, the birthstone for January, is a deep red stone that signifies eternal friendship. Many say the stone has a resemblance to a pomegranate seed. The hue of red is deep and alluring, also perfectly fitting for the bitterly cold and often snow-filled weather of January. If you want to give a January baby a great birthday gift, pick from one of these nine handbags that are sure to be a long-lasting handbag to add to her collection.

Valentino Mini VaVaVoom Leather Shoulder Bag | Price is $1,695 via Net-A-Porter
This might be my favorite bag of the batch, as the sleek and compact design does not detract from the stand-out design. There is an optional shoulder strap or you can slide your hand behind the studded detailing to clutch it.

Anya Hindmarch Valorie Glitter-finish Leather Clutch | Price is $550 via Net-A-Porter
Some girls have all the fun, and if you know that January baby that is the life of the party, get her the life of the party glitter-covered Anya Hindmarch clutch.

Balenciaga Giant Continental Gold Hamilton | Price is $645 via Barneys
Balenciaga is known for their wide variety of colors, and the Bordeaux color works well for the month of January and can be used for years to come.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Karlie Bag | Price is $258 via ShopBop
The Bordeaux color of this Marc by Marc Jacobs bag is truer to the color garnet, but lacks the bright pop of red that many of our choices have. This deeper color looks sultry and will easily finish off a day or evening look.

Judith Leiber Ladybug Crystal Minaudiere | Price is $4,495 via Neiman Marcus
For the birthday girl who has every bag, gifting a Judith Leiber Minaudiere shows you know that art and fashion are one in the same.

Theyskens’ Theory Atter Medium Turnlock Bag | Price is $545 via ShopBop
The ladylike briefcase bag from Theyskens’ Theory has been on my radar since it hit ShopBop. This bag is all about the luscious red leather and a refined design.

Nancy Gonzalez Crocodile Box Clutch | Price is $850 via Net-A-Porter
Discreet sophistication is the name of the game and Nancy Gonzalez has the perfect birthday dinner clutch option.

MICHAEL Michael Kors Hamilton Rock N’ Roll Leather Tote | $450 via Net-A-Porter
With a young rocker chick vibe, this MICHAEL Michael Kors bag is large is size and packs a punch with its punk-y silver studded detailing.

Valextra Medium Document Holder | Price is $860 via Barneys
For the girl who loves to travel, give her a garnet colored ostrich flap document holder to hold all of her necessities.

Purseonals: Celine Triptyque

2011 was a year filled with Celine bags for me. I went from owning zero Celine bags to owning three Celine bags with one more on the way. While most know Celine for its Luggage Bag, my favorite Celine bag may be the under-the-radar Triptyque.

Vlad and I spent the holidays in Germany and the Czech Republic and I decided to only take one bag with me. After much thought, I decided on taking my Celine Triptyque and it turned out to be the perfect option. With ample storage space, a refined design and plenty of fashion appeal, this bag deserves more love from me.

Here is how my Celine Triptyque scores in our PurseBlog Purseonals ratings:

Aesthetics 4.5 Stars

From the first time I laid eyes on this bag, I was sold. Part briefcase, part 70′s flight bag, I knew this bag would be ideal for traveling. The design is simple but there are lovely touches that are visible, including braided detail on the zipper pulls.

The East/West shape works so well on this bag, giving a professional feel that can easily be dressed down. From the side, you can see the three separate compartments. There is a bit of flare from the side view of both the front and back compartment, but I don’t find it distracting.

Celine bags are very simple and elegant, and the Triptyque shows this beautifully. I love the gold hardware against the rich red leather and the top handles along with the optional shoulder strap.

Usability + Functionality 5 Stars

This bag gets a perfect 5 out of 5 for usability and functionality. I am ultimately obsessed with this bag for many reasons, but mostly for how easy it is to use. I used this for our trip overseas, and each separate compartment not only came in handy, but also was easily accessible.

My wallet, passport, and tickets went in the front pocket. This was extremely easy to access and the long zip around made the pocket easy to get in and out of quickly when needing to present my passport and ticket. Even with my continental wallet inside, there was plenty of room.

The middle compartment is where I put all of my “stuff”. From gloves, to lipgloss, to tissues, to snacks, to headphones, to my travel checkers game, the middle zipper compartment took everything inside of it easily. Best part was it did not make the bag stick out funny in weird places and is also just as easy to get in and out of.

Lastly the back compartment is where my small liquids were stored. I have to travel with my inhaler for my asthma and Benadryl for my allergies. Along with those, I always carry Advil and nose spray. Since the back compartment is the last I try to access, this is what I deemed my medical area.

Quality + Construction 4.5 Stars

I’ve owned this bag since July of 2011 and I can still smell that beautiful luscious leather scent. I got caught in a snow/rain showers a couple times on our trip and the bag held up beautifully. The markings from the water are gone now which shows the high quality leather being used.

The inside is lined in canvas, which helps keep the bags weight down and has remained clean even though I throw everything inside. The zipper pulls still move seamlessly and it is easy to open and close the bag.

The only wear that I see after close inspection is the gold lettering on the Celine logo is starting to show wear. I suppose that is to be expected, but with my Type A personality, it bugs me a bit. Since there is no other reference to the designer of the bag and I feel like the namesake looks lovely on the front center of the bag, I would hate for it to rub off completely.

Value 4 Stars

The Triptyque costs a few hundred dollars more than the Luggage Tote, and while I love this bag dearly, I am not sure the difference in price is warranted. While the functionality is much higher, the bag is not that much larger in size and I would expect it to be similar in pricing. However, the quality of the materials is supreme, the design is beautiful, and with the amount of time I use this bag, the value works for me.

The ‘It’ Factor 3.5 Stars

This bag is much more subdued in style than others. Classic appeal matters to me greatly when it comes to staying power of a handbag, so this bag scores high for its wearability over time. The clean lines and gorgeous red leather will always make my heart go pitter-patter and I highly recommend this bag for any collection. However, if you are looking for a more recognizable bag, this is not it – stick to the Luggage Tote instead.

Total Score 4.5 Stars

I bought my Celine Triptyque for $2,300 at Kirna Zabete, ask for Everest and tell him PurseBlog sent you!

Want It Wednesday: More Chanel

Some of my favorite Chanel items from my collection. Follow purseblog on Instagram

Typically for Want It Wednesday, I pick one thing that I am coveting greatly. But this week, all I want is Chanel. Chanel everything, from head to toe. From nail polish to makeup to bracelets to gloves to cosmetic cases to bags. This is one of those weeks where I am on a major Chanel kick and if I had it my way, I would pop into their store and buy one of everything.

I yearn to be a lady who lunches draped in Chanel from head to toe. Chanel is timeless, elegant, and easy to love. And while my wants may never become a reality, I would still love to add a new Chanel bag to my collection.

If you could have anything from Chanel, what would it be?

I’d love to travel with the Bottega Veneta leather travel trolley

Thanks to Amanda for holding down the virtual PurseBlog fort while Vlad and I spent Christmas in Germany and the Czech Republic. I planned to do some work while abroad, but we spent every minute of every day exploring new cities and taking in the culture (and cuisine). For this reason, I took a straight eight days off work and it was glorious. But now I am back and Amanda will get a little downtime before 2012 begins.

I’m not the only person who spent the holidays traveling, as this is the season for millions to leave home. I have finally come along to the idea of having a more luxurious carry on bag, and the Bottega Veneta leather travel trolley is my latest want.

Ok, so I know it seems like a total waste to spend money on bag that gets banged up and thrown in the dirty luggage scanning belt, but I still have an easier time justifying an expensive carry on versus expensive checked baggage. Bottega Veneta is known for their premium leathers and superb quality, and that gets me thinking that this trolley would be the ultimate luxury.

The chocolate intrecciato leather is the perfect hue of neutral that will also not show wear as quickly as other colors. The black acetate handle extends as you would expect from any trolley and the inside has a zip-fastening compartment, padlock, and detachable protective twill sleeve. Seeing as how Bottega’s classic Veneta bag costs nearly $3,000, the price tag for this spacious piece of luggage seems reasonable. Buy via Net-A-Porter for $4,900.

The Lanvin Diamond-Print Canvas Tote sparkles

Last week, I went with a few friends to see the Collection of Elizabeth Taylor at Christie’s in NYC. From extravagant evening gowns to Chanel bags galore, there was a wide array of items to see. But the driving force behind this viewing for the majority of people there was Liz Taylor’s jewels, and boy did they sparkle! I found plenty of items that were gorgeous (but not quite my taste) that I will forever dream about owning. The overall theme was diamonds, as they were found on nearly every single piece of jewelry she owned.

And just as the saying goes, “diamonds are a girls best friend”, I was completely enamored with all of the bling. So I have been in a diamond state of mind for over a week and recently the Lanvin Diamond-Print Canvas Tote popped up on Net-A-Porter.

So this bag doesn’t truly sparkle, in fact all of the diamonds are merely printed on the canvas body. But I like the idea of this bag. I hate the price ($850 for canvas), but the thought of this bag is fun. The design could easily be seen as obnoxious, but again I feel like the diamonds being printed on canvas keeps this looking much more subdued and flat.

There is no great use for this bag, other than a fun everyday tote. The serious problem is the price, that I refuse to pay for a tote like this. If only it were $150, I would totally consider it for a fun option in my rotation. Buy via Net-A-Porter for $850.

Holiday Gift Guide 2011: Sweet Accessory Treats, from chocolates to cookies

One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is all the treats. Whether it’s homemade batches of grandma’s cookies or peppermint chocolates or a warm cup of hot cocoa with whipped cream, my sweet tooth is on hyper-drive for the entire month of December (ok, it started with Halloween). I receive sweet treats as holiday gifts and I enjoying giving them out as well.

If you are simply looking for Christmas cookies to send, I love this option from Eleni’s. Christmas trees, reindeer, candy canes, snowmen, and Santa will put anyone in a festive mood.

SweetBliss Polka Dot Chocolate Purse & Pump | Price is $52 via Saks
This is one of my favorite finds, and the chocolate purse and pump are both entirely fashionable with their polka dot patterns.

Want it Wednesday: Celine Phantom

I’ve been on a Celine kick for quite some time, and just as I thought my obsession begins to subside, I found a bag that makes it flare back up. I’ve gone back and forth trying to decide if I like the Celine Phantom, which is the most recent hit from the brand, and I have finally decided I want it.

With the middle of the bag matching the Luggage Tote that we know, the Celine Phantom expands in size with a more spacious east/west finish. When you zip the bag up, the shape comes back closer to the Luggage Tote, but I really like the bag left larger.

This exact version of the bag is the one I find myself wanting this Wednesday. The supple calf grey leather is offset with orange piping, and we all know Celine bags have their trim take center stage. The grey keeps this bag fashionable and wearable while the orange piping helps this bag jump out and grab attention. I am all for attention-grabbing accessories, and this bag will do just that. Price is around $3,000. I shop for my Celine bags with the lovely folks at Kirna Zabete (ask for Everest and tell him PurseBlog sent you!).

The ideal Bottega Veneta Knot Clutch has both crocodile and intrecciato metal

I used to associate black and blue with bruises, but going forward I will always think of this stunning Bottega Veneta Knot clutch instead. Leave it to Bottega to know exactly what I adore and design it in a way that has me going gaga. We have discussed their Knot clutch ad nauseum and my two favorite renditions have been their crocodile version and their intrecciato metal version. But now I have both in one place and that feels like Christmas came early.

With the perfect touch of sophistication, the Bottega Veneta Crocodile and Intrecciato Metal Box Clutch integrates textures and colors in a completely fashion-forward combination.

The navy crocodile skin is spotlighted on most of the bag while the corners have the super industrial chic intrecciatio metal design. This gives a pairing that is both unexpected and completely welcomed. I always look for something different, especially when it comes to classic shapes and styles, and this clutch is the definition of just that. If you are looking to kick up your evening wear style, don’t count this clutch out. Priced at $7,130 through Net-A-Porter.

Holiday Gift Guide 2011: Small Accessories

We are always giving full-on bags lots of loving, but small accessories are just as integral to our daily lives. From wallets to wristlets to card cases to makeup pouches, small accessories hold the necessities that we carry with us daily. Both handbags and small accessories are meant to be functional, but that doesn’t mean they need to lack style.

So with all of that in mind, I scoured the web to find you 9 of the best small accessories that will make amazing holiday gifts.

Valextra Credit Card Holder | Price $500 via Barneys
This is the perfect gift for the working professional. When you hand out business cards you want to make a statement, and this card holder will do just that.

Comme des Garçons Polka Dot Embossed Pouch | Price $190 via Net-A-Porter
I always carry a couple packets of sugar, some Benadryl, and band-aids in a pouch in my purse. This would be the cutest little accessory to hold an emergency kit.

Balenciaga Giant Mini Cosmetic Case Nickel Hamilton | Price $505 via Barneys
Carry your everyday cosmetic go-to items in a fashionable Balenciaga Cosmetic Case. This little case has every Balenciaga touch I know and love.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Hip To Be Square Wristlet | Price $130 via Net-A-Porter
Wristlets do not get enough love, and they should. A wristlet is the perfect night-on-the-town accessory, and Marc by Marc Jacobs knows how to add the right amount of sass to this design.

Kate Spade New York Glitter Little Gia Pouch | Price $75 via Neiman Marcus
This pouch can be handheld as a small clutch or slipped into your bag to hold some small essentials. Kate Spade continues to be one of my favorite brands for a plethora of items.

Proenza Schouler PS1 Continental Wallet | Price $585 via Barneys
Turn to the boys of Proenza Schouler for a totally cool accessory in vibrant colors. I love the green wallet, but there are so many more choices if this wallet doesn’t suit your fancy.

Diane von Furstenberg Harper Wristlet | Price $245 via ShopBop
Another wristlet, only DvF brings refined elegance to this patent leather clutch. This works for happy hour with the girls or date night with your love.

Rebecca Minkoff Neon Lizard Little Louie Key Pouch | Price $65 via ShopBop
Attach this key pouch to your house and/or car keys. It makes your keys easy to find in your bag and also works to take to the gym, grocery shopping, or out for a quick errand.

Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Leather Wallet | Price $730 via Net-A-Porter
A long zip-around wallet is the only wallet I will carry, and Bottega Veneta offers a beautiful option with their classic intrecciato woven leather.

Balenciaga’s Giant Hip is a great gift under $1000

We’ve been diligently working on putting together Holiday Gift Guides that should help everyone figure out what handbag to give or receive this season. Somehow, though, I didn’t find the right gift guide to add this little number to, but it is worth its own post.

It’s no secret that I am a BBag admirer and carrier and while I love the classic-sized City bag, the Balenciaga Arena Giant Hip is too hip to pass up. I’m always telling you how I love a crossbody bag, and more often than not, I go out and don’t need to carry that many items. For days like that, a small bag with a long strap is as perfect as it gets.

With every bit of Balenciaga in a smaller package, 6.5″ length x 10″ width x 2.5″ depth, the Giant Hip remains true to the brands aesthetic. There is a zip top that leads to the interior and a thin shoulder strap that has a 24″ drop. On this exact bag, Barneys offers an ideal winter hue of blue, dubbed “Light Atlantic,” and my favorite rose gold hardware. For those of you looking for a bag like this and hoping for a manageable price, the Giant Hip is priced at $815 at Barneys.

Want it Wednesday: Proenza Schouler PS1 in bright Holiday Colors

It is no secret that both Amanda and I are extreme Proenza Schouler fan-girls. Every time Jack and Lazaro grace us with a new version of the PS1, we swoon. Sometimes a little bit of pizzazz mixed with a lot of classic is just what I crave, and these two bags from Proenza Schouler’s Holiday collection are calling my name.

From vibrant neon yellow suede to an eye-catching orchid pink hue, these two Proenza Schouler PS1 bags are precisely what I want this Wednesday.

I’m a sucker for bright colors but like many of you,the majority of my bags do not venture into the neon color family. But that doesn’t mean I don’t love neon accessories and I would love to add the perfect attention grabbing colored accessory to my collection.

The PS1 is well known by all of us now and that is why this post just needs pictures, so lovers of neon yellow and gorgeous pink can drool. I know I am. Buy via Proenza Schouler or shop Proenza Schouler via Net-A-Porter online.

9 Bags on Net-A-Porter’s Sale that haunt my sleep

Sale Season is both a high point and low point of each season for me. With sample sales galore in New York City, it is hard to walk down the street and not find a great deal on something I previously had to have. I know many of you wish you could be in NYC for all of the sample sales, but the advent of the Internet means great deals at everyone’s fingertips, even if you live in the middle of the desert. All you need is your trusty laptop.

With that being said, one of my absolute favorite sales of the year is on Net-A-Porter.com. Their sales mark down some of the most coveted items in the fashion world and it feels like a virtual battle to get the best pieces. I have been religiously checking their site to see if anything new pops up or what gets marked down more and I have found 9 bags that haunt my sleep. From trendy to classic to elegant to funky, these nine bags are the ones that continue to call my name whenever I visit Net-A-Porter.com.

Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2012 Coverage

This morning we attending the Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2012 show and were able to take tons of amazing pictures backstage before and during the show. Oscar is King of fabulous details, and this collection did not disappoint.

We are sharing photos on Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr, so be sure you are following us to get a sneak peek at what Oscar has in store for next fall.

Alexander Wang’s Backpack is actually quite cool

Alexander Wang Marti Convertible Backpack, $850 via ShopBop

Can I start off by telling you all that I’ve not been a big fan of the whole backpack in place of a handbag movement. It simply is not my style and even in school I always carried messenger bags (aside from the years where I took every possible book with me at all times and you could tip me over with the slightest nudge). But this morning at the Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2012 show, I ran into fellow blogger friend, Rachel of The Greyest Ghost, who helped change my opinion on wearing backpacks.

We were chatting after the show and both Vlad and I realized she had quite the nifty camera bag. But this wasn’t an ordinary camera bag, instead she opted to use the Alexander Wang Marti Convertible Backpack as her camera bag.

And that got me thinking. This backpack can be worn traditionally, or you can change it up and carry it as a shoulder bag or by double handles which leaves you with many uses. I am always preaching about using a bag that is both chic and functional, and this Alexander Wang bag truly does that.

Unlike many other Alexander Wang bags, the Marti Backpack is not overly heavy. There are plenty of functionality aspects, including 4 zip pockets at the sides, detachable backpack straps, and a detachable shoulder strap. Totally hip baby bag anyone? Measurements are 15″H x 11″L x 5″D and price is $850 via ShopBop.

Holiday Gift Guide 2011: Trendy Handbags

One of the major problems I seem to run into when creating our Gift Guides is that my list of wants grows exponentially as I hunt down the best handbag finds on the web. The focus of this guide are trendy bags. There are two types of trendy: wear-once pieces, and fun, yet wearable pieces.

I focused on the latter. These nine bags have all the right touches of current trends while still being great wardrobe staples. From colorblocking, to buckle detailing, to chunky hardware, if you are looking for a trendy bag for yourself or someone on your list our guide will have your answer:

Alexander Wang Kirsten Suede Tote | Price is $661.50 via ShopBop

A funky take on the classic black suede satchel, Alexander Wang spices the design up with buckle strap detailing all over the outside of the bag. Best part is this bag is currently marked down 30%.

Yves Saint Laurent Muse Two Small Tote | Price is $1,895 via Net-A-Porter

The Muse Two from Yves Saint Laurent could easily be put on our Classic Handbags gift guide, but I opted to go for the bold colorblocked version and include it in our Trendy guide. The red, navy, and sand leather will work with blacks and browns and can easily be dressed up or down.

Valentino Rockstud Leather Tote | Price is $2,895 via Net-A-Porter

Valentino decided to take a stab at slice of luxury purse buyers that love structure and class but have a punk rock side as well. I have always adored the shape of this tote and the studding is done just-right.

Givenchy Tricolor Medium Antigona Duffel | Price is $2,410 via Barneys

A great everyday bag, the colorblocking on this Givenchy bag is slight enough that you can wear it for years to come but adds a nicer touch than a simple single colored bag.

Prada Madras Shoulder Bag | Price is $1,670 via Saks

This Prada bag caught my attention because of its mod black plexi hardware. The black goatskin is offset with a coral hue on the front flap.

Chloe Sally Medium Shoulder Bag | Price is $1,995 via Saks

While there is a cloud and black version, the emerald option for this Chloe bag got my heart going pitter patter. Tranquil hues of blue and green adorn this bag that is ideal to sling over your shoulder and get on the go.

Gucci Soho Large Python Hobo Bag | Price is $3,900 via Saks

Python is always trendy, but this year it has been all the rage. Instead of a natural finish, I love how Gucci amped up the aesthetic appeal of this otherwise classic hobo with purple and blue touches.

Theyskens’ Theory Anen Mini Flap Bag | Price is $325 via ShopBop

You have to check out this bag for the crossed strap details! Leave it to Theyskens’ Theory to design a holster like finish to an otherwise simple flap bag. Save this bag for spring and summer to show the linen body accented by patent leather trim.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Bob’s Memphis Trip Shoulder Bag | Price is $298 via Saks

This bag is fun, young, and totally rocking the colorblocking trend. Marc Jacobs designed a bag that is big enough for day and small enough for night, in two colorways that are just right.

Rebecca Minkoff’s Sample Sale hits California

Today and this weekend, Rebecca Minkoff is hosting her Los Angeles and San Francisco Sample Sales. Each is bound to have plenty of loot at amazing prices. If you are able to stop by, have a plan in mind and make sure your arms are strong enough to hold many bags at once. Info after the jump!

Miranda Kerr looks angelic with her Stella McCartney Clutch

Our sister site, BagThatStyle, dishes on celebrity style daily. While the majority of that type of content can be found on BtS, we still like to add a little celebrity style in the mix on PurseBlog too.

On Tuesday night, I plopped down on my couch and put on the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, like many of you probably did as well. First off, can I ask why we all subject ourselves to this amazing misery? While their bodies are still out of this world beautiful, the Angels are curvier compared to runway models (though a slim Karlie Kloss made her debut this year). So, there I was on my couch in my unflattering PJ’s next to my husband watching nearly nude models on TV for one hour. I did this while eating a bag of M&M’s. Clearly, I felt awesome afterwards.

One of my favorite Victoria Secret Angels is the adorable and sexy Miranda Kerr. Her body looks so entirely perfect after having a baby that I nearly wanted to throw M&M’s at my TV, but I decided against it because that would mean I’d waste my precious chocolate.

The point of all of this is that Miranda Kerr looks just as beautiful fully clothed as she does in underwear, and she proves it by looking ravishing in a Dolce & Gabbana leopard dress which she accessorized with a Stella McCartney Clutch at the viewing party. Joining other perfect Angels, my attention immediately went to the doe-eyed Kerr. The body-con dress hugged her the way a dress is meant to and Kerr carried the Winter 2011 Stella McCartney Black and Gold Studded Plexi Clutch.

The clutch is a different look for the brand but adds interesting dimensionality. Being carried by a woman like Miranda Kerr does this clutch so much justice. Buy Stella McCartney bags via Net-A-Porter.

Want it Wednesday: Oscar de la Renta Dyed Rabbit Fur Clutch

It’s hard to find a perfect fur clutch, and we know that because so many well-known designers attempt to tackle fur and have absolutely no luck. This is where designer extraordinaire Oscar de la Renta comes in to soothe our eyes with a clutch that is both oh-so-Oscar and entirely magnificent.

Exclusive for his online store, the Oscar de la Renta Dyed Rabbit Fur Clutch doubles as a muff to keep your hands fashionably warm and your belongings meticulously stored. The crystal front embellishment in available in a wide variety of color-ways, but my favorite is the amethyst.

If you don’t like or agree with fur being used for fashion, this clutch is clearly not for you. But if you do, can we talk about how amazing the price is? $995 for an Oscar de la Renta fur clutch with a crystal hand-embroidered patch is so amazing that I can barely wrap my mind around it. Just in time for holiday parties and cold nights, this clutch arrives to keep you both fashionable and warm. How many handbags that you own can you say do that for you now? And for these reasons, I am so seriously wanting this bag this Wednesday. Buy via Oscar de la Renta for $995.

Billie Achilleos creates Louis Vuitton animals for their Sydney store opening

A while back, we showed you the collection of animals that British artist Billie Achilleos made out of Louis Vuitton small leather goods. I love the idea of bringing art together with fashion, and Billie tackled that challenge in an amazing way.

With the new George Street Maison Louis Vuitton location opening in Sydney, Australia, Billie created a trio of animals specially for the occasion. The Louis Vuitton Kangaroo with the baby Joey in its pouch is my favorite, but all three combine fashion and art wonderfully.

Chanel makes a bag exclusively for Lady Gaga that the rest of the world envies

Oh, to be Lady Gaga. The world adores you, designers pine to make ornate crazy couture items for you, and you have by far the coolest and most moving commercial (Google Chrome) on TV this year.

But the main reason I am envying Lady Gaga right now is because Karl Lagerfeld designed a one-of-a-kind Chanel bag to be paired with her Chanel Haute Couture white tweed dress with black trim. Accessorizing her dress are Chanel pearls, camelias and bows while her white bag features one black and one white flower applique. If you wonder why Lady Gaga had this amazing Chanel moment, it is because of the launch of Gaga’s Workshop for Barneys NY.

I may have placed myself on a not-so-stringent shopping ban, but upon seeing this Chanel bag Karl made for Gaga, I started to go gaga. This bag is the perfect pairing of demure and edgy adding the classic quilted background with a contrasting black and white add-ons. And if you can’t peel your eyes off her dress, that is also because Karl designed this especially for the queen of pop as well. So again, to be Lady Gaga would be quite the nice touch – especially if you are a Chanel fan.

New at Net-A-Porter.com 11.21.11

The fashion world’s calendar confuses me. We are bundling up for all the cold weather and we haven’t even passed Thanksgiving, yet resort collections are slowly trickling into the stores. This only makes sense if you live in a tropical climate and I am certain that NYC does not qualify as that. However, while I may be confused, I still love seeing the bright colors and new arrivals hit Net-A-Porter.com.

New arrivals this Monday include inviting yellow bags from Burberry and Marc Jacobs along with a green Reed Krakoff bag that I adore.
