The British Fashion Council’s annual Fashion Awards took place in London yesterday, and accompanying the gongs came a bevy of noteable fashion moments. The big news of the night saw Victoria Beckham being crowned Designer Brand of the Year (beating the likes of Tom Ford and Burberry to the title!), with Alexander McQueen‘s Sarah Burton taking home the prize for Designer of the Year (two guesses as to what brought that about…) Other worthy winners included Stella McCartney for the Red Carpet Award; Christopher Kane for the New Establishment accolade, and Model of the Year Stella Tennant. Wowee.

Recipient of the Style Award (for emobodying the spirit of London as a modern fashion icon), Alexa Chung, appropriately wore a Christopher Kane Spring/Summer 2012 dress for the evening- and check out that matching jewelled clutch! ‘Matchy matchy,’ not so naff after all then. Whatever next, fascinators and nude tights back in style?! Tut. Stella McCartney also proved a faux pas can be turned around, with her own label jumpsuit matching it’s low slung waist with loooonng trouser legs, covering up her shoes almost entirely. Who says tailoring is staid!

Other looks we love came from blogger Susie Bubble, wearing shoes she herself designed in collaboration with FarFetch, and Alice Temperley- every inch the Betty Davis silver screen idol we see her as. And then there’s Daphne Guinness. That can’t have been comfy though Daphne, even with your stamina!

So showing off our national fashion treasures can mean many things, and on the night Laura Bailey plumped for Burberry Resort 2012- the collection which first kick-started the house’s raffia revival. A belted coat could easily be a shaky evening wear option, but with the right styling and heels here, Laura made a great choice don’t you think?
As for the details…

Look at Simone Rocha‘s perspex box bag! Flashing her ticket to the Awards too, double show off.

Louise Gray- how do we admire thee, let me count the ways? Red hoisery? Lilac dress? Eccentric…elegant, and the best advert for the Gray label ever!

Check out Sam Cam’s sneaky tattoo peaking over those Charlotte Olympia platforms. Dolphins (and… moons, is it?) Who knew, who knew.
