In Costa

I almost have no words to describe my vacation in Costa Rica. That’s how amazing it was.

The idea was really simple. Get away with friends, rent a simple house, learn to surf, that’s it. Nothing to do in the evenings, everyone in bed by 9 after a margarita or two at sunset, and I’ve already told you about all the whole inevitable style meltdown.

And actually, I think it was the simplicity that touched me so much.

It reminded me of my summers in Corsica, in my village of Girolata, the dirt roads, the purity of the water and the sky, and days spent doing nothing that end up passing by incredibly fast.

It’s something I’m really stuck on right now – keeping things simple and getting back to my roots.

Two of my friends, Lolo and Camille, were with me – and I couldn’t help but take a few photos – they were absolutely irresistible with their tans and all their colorful funny tee-shirts.

I hope these rays of sun will do you some good. This trip started as a promise I made to myself to not spend another winter in New York without seeing the sun at some point. The winters here are brutal, so having the chance to break it up with a few days of sun should totally be reimbursed by insurance.

I mean, Obamacare or something.

Maybe one day! ;)

Style Detox

One of the funniest quirks about my profession is probably my tendency to think of each episode of my life as a fashion story.
And I think of myself as the heroine of the fashion story, of course, haha, obviously.

Ok, I’m going to guess I’m not the only one, right?

Like now, for example, I’ve just gotten back from a long vacation. The first part was at a farm in Virginia, and the second, if you followed, was surfing in Costa Rica.

Fortunately I made a stop in New York between the two to unpack and repack my suitcase, otherwise I think I might have ended up with a meltdown and a split personality.

The farm in Virginia? No need to go into detail, you’re gonna get it right away.
The contents of my suitcase were as cliché as a Pinterest board.

Big wool socks for hanging out around the fire (with a mug of hot chocolate of course—they call it a prop, like when you give a model a newspaper to make her look interesting sitting in a cafe), wool pants (think Chloé A/W 2008) Duck Boots for walking in the mud while staying chic—rugged, but elegant—big sweaters, plaid shirts, and yes, of course!!! I almost forgot!!! Cozy beanies—you want ‘em, we got ‘em—for going to say hi to the horses.

Easy.

Then after that, time to head to Costa Rica.
The surfing! The sun! The beach! The hang out! The dirt roads! The quads!

I’d done a little investigating, and my friend Lauren, who I went with and who knows the area, told me. “Don’t bring anything, everyone down there wears the same thing every day.”

I listened to her because I always listen to my friends’ advice, and it’s a good thing I did, because even after reducing as much as possible, I still had a giant suitcase.

So to keep it simple, my professional quirk and I chose a “white” theme. Title of the imaginary fashion series: “Blanche in the sun” or even better “White sun” — you always end up picking stupid titles like that.

So anyway, I said to myself: white’s easy to wash by hand, it goes with everything, and also, it’s one of my favorite colors, and hey, everybody cover your eyes once I start getting a tan I’m gonna be so hot*.
Add to that some pretty rash guards (a kind of t-shirt you wear to protect your stomach from the board and your back from the sun) from J. Crew, a sublime Lisa Marie Fernandez wetsuit, and a few neoprene wetsuits from Patagonia in case the water gets cold**, and off I went to Costa Rica with the “bare minimum” according to a fashion girl***.

I was reassured right away when I arrived and saw that Lauren’s “Don’t bring anything, everyone down there wears the same thing every day” suitcase was even bigger than mine. And she’d even brought A DRESS FOR NEW YEARS. Lolo, how could you not tell me about New Years!?
What do you mean you don’t need to remind someone about New Years?

But the one area I definitely succeeded in was shoes. I only brought one pair of (white) Havaïanas and one pair of (white) Vans.

Ok ok, I also brought my Rondinis, in case of a style emergency.

As for beauty products, I brought my normal kit plus a truck full of sunscreen, to make sure my skin matched my white theme, of course.
Honestly, you could really say I did a pretty good packing job.

But even so, as I was about to realize after two days of trying to keep the “Vogue Paris N°916” (the one with Gisèle on the rocky terrain in Greece) sexy-serene look, reality always catches up to you when you least expect it.

So here is my day-by-day report on my Costa Rican style meltdown. Pure Fashion Detox like I’d never experienced before.

Day #1
Cool. Classy. White shorts, white t-shirt, Havaïanas.

I brought a beautiful blue suede beach bag****, but apparently, it didn’t fit the scene. A suede bag is heavy, it can get stolen, etc. All my friends have cloth tote bags with funny inscriptions on them.

Since I left my personality in New York, I empty out a Fendi shoe bag that had my bathing suits in it, and I use that as my beach bag.
I like the irony of it, it fits in with the local style of my friends. And fashion is safe and sound. For now.

Day #2
First surfing lesson, at 7 AM.

I get out of bed and throw on yesterday’s outfit. Too early to think.
Underneath, I put on a little Zimmermann bathing suit that I paid an arm and a leg for right before leaving because “my body hasn’t seen the light of day or even the light of a gym since August” and I bring my rash guard with me.

Problem n°1? I can’t find my instructor so I walk up and down the main street trying to find her. I’m still in New York mode, and I’m fifteen minutes late, so I’m super stressed out, and walking super fast.
Yeah, yeah, the kind of walk that would make even Chris Hemsworth look stupid.

Problem N°2? The streets are partly covered in dirt and partly covered with the fresh molasses they apply to the roadways to keep dust from covering everything. Basically, it’s like walking around in an enormous pot of organic mountain honey.
I’m forced to come and go in the fresh molasses and thanks to my Havaïanas flapping around and splashing me, my legs (and my shorts, and my t-shirt) are covered in mollasses and dust.

I finally find my instructor, who is totally chill (being half an hour late is nothing here) and she gives me an incredible lesson in surf style. She’s got a little rash guard and a micro-bikini on her bronzed bottom, so I change right away to look just like her and we get right in the water.

But the cowl does not make the monk, as they say.

When I was choosing my bathing suit, I hesitated between a size 38 and a 40, and I chose 40 to make absolutely sure, oh the horror!!! that it wouldn’t look too tight. #Ihatetightclothes. BIG, HUGE MISTAKE.

Fatal.

With every wave, I lose my swimsuit bottoms.

Not easy learning to surf with your bare ass in the air, I tell you. I make a few surfers happy, but I’m not feeling so great myself.

Day 2, and style’s already lost. And it’s only 8:17 in the morning.

Day #3
I take a shower, or something like that.

The thing about going surfing three times a day is that you don’t really know when to take a shower anymore. Should you take one before surfing? After surfing? During surfing? In the evening after you’re all done?

Yes and no. It doesn’t work like that here — “evening” is at 5:30, right when the sun is setting. People bring beers to the beach for the after-surf party*****, and then everyone goes straight to dinner, then they hang out at the skate park****** and at 9PM, you’re so tired you go to sleep with your clothes on, still salty from the day. Then you get up at 6AM to go surfing.
Nobody takes a shower before surfing, as far as I know.

By Day 3, I understood that the idea was just to “rinse off when I could.”

As for my “white” theme, it was continuing on its highway to success.

Every time I put on a clean t-shirt, someone on a motorcycle rides by, waving at me (people are so nice here), and covering me with a thick layer of dust. I’m not giving up yet, but let’s just say my stock of clean outfits is disappearing right before my eyes.

Day #4
Let’s talk about my hair, shall we?

Hair isn’t easy at the beach.
Short hair isn’t very easy at all at the beach.
Short, curly hair is horrible at the beach.

A sort of compact nest forms on my head and I try to ignore it by pinning whatever I can behind my ears. Sometimes I wear a turban, but #too_hot.

I make a few more attempts at washing my hair to keep it looking somewhat human, but the more I wash it, the curlier it gets. Shoot, pfff. Oooooh but who cares.
I decide to forget shampoo exists. Salt will do the job just fine.

Day #5
We’re going on a boat ride, the perfect time to bring out my white blouse.

Perfect for protecting me from the sun and staying fresh, the girl’s totally in control, I love it.
People compliment me. We get on the four-wheeler to go to the boat and that’s when a cloud of dust rises up and never leaves for half an hour, oh, except for when we get sprayed by a gardener passing by who waves at us (people are so nice here) and sprays us with his hose. At the time, it feels so fresh and alive.
When we get off the four-wheeler, we’re totally red with dust from head to toe.
And thanks to the gardener, the dust is perfectly soaked into our clothes, and my white “I totally know what I’m doing” blouse is lost forever.

Oh, by the way. That blouse was my last clean item of clothing. Everything else is covered in dirt and molasses. But the good thing is, it’s Day 5, which is also the day when you stop caring, especially about your appearance.

Day #6
What’s day cream, again?

You may not care about your appearance, but don’t forget you’re near the equator and it’s kind of like surfing on the surface of the sun during a heat wave.

You have to protect yourself, otherwise you’ll end up with a Valentino tan (they should totally come out with a beauty line) right away.
So you smear on SPF 50 every two hours, and not only is it exhausting, it’s also not super great for your skin, so between the sun and the shock treatment you’re putting it through, my skin starts breaking out big time. Yuck.

Fortunately, my hair starts to come back to life, and it looks beautiful. I’ve got some blonde highlights and my locks now have the consistency of clay—super practical for creating nice hairstyles and impressing friends with “look, I can write your name with strands of my hair!”

Day #7
Nothing’s going right anymore. The damage is done.

By Day 7, you basically just pick up the first thing you find on the ground and put it on.
You take a shower wherever and whenever you feel like it. At the surf shop when you’re returning your board in the evening, for example.
I try to trick the enemy******* and wash my clothes by bathing in them, but nothing will make the dust go away, so I happily give up the idea of being clean. And when all else fails, I rediscover the art of the pareo I learned in Bali.

Day #8
Sometimes I go crazy and put on mascara.

Ahahahahah, lol. I love it.
These are the moments when I try to get back some semblance of my human form.

I maybe forgot to mention, but to add to the joyfully alarming state of my appearance, my eyes are swollen. My eyes are suffering from all the salt and sunscreen that’s been running into them every time I get in the water. Chronic conjunctivitis? Yeah, baby. So sexy.

But even so, sometimes I get the urge to grab my tube of mascara and put some on.
The result is cute for about two seconds.

Until the next random shower, in fact. That’s when the mascara runs everywhere and since I forgot I put it on in the first place, I look like a panda until I run into a kind soul who lets me know something’s going on with my eyes.

Day #9
I don’t really know who I am anymore, and I don’t even mind—not one bit.

I abandoned my clothes, my mascara, my shampoo, and I didn’t even tell you about the state my nails were in, but I think you can probably imagine—and well, obviously, I haven’t looked at myself in a mirror in ten days.

Well maybe that’s what a vacation is for a fashion girl.

Day #10
I take a big trash bag and put all my clothes in it. They’re all the same color – reddish brown. It’s pretty, actually.

When it’s time to leave, it hits me.

I think to myself that actually, my Lolo was right. Next time I won’t take anything. I’ll do a mega fashion detox from day one. A pair of flip flops, a tunic, a pareo, and that’s it.

That doesn’t stop me from thinking about the luxurious bath with perfumed body scrubs that I’m going to take when I get back, though. And the appointment I’ll be making with my hair stylist the very next day.

What happens in Costa Rica stays in Costa Rica.

* Which is never, thanks to my SPF 587564

*** I don’t even want to think about the suitcases of the blogger girls who post their outfits every day on their blogs.
**** Ok, fine, now that I think about it, totally stupid idea.
***** I mean, it sounds cool when you put it like that, but refer to my post last week for a more precise definition of the “after-surf” party
****** Yoohoo, it’s me GaGa!!! I’m a teenager again!
******* Actually, there is no enemy: no one even cares about style and everyone is pretty much as dusty as the next person.

I would sit on the beach for hours watching the rolling waves break on the beach with the sun reflecting off the ocean, and listening to the soothing sounds of swirling waves crashing against the rocks, though not as epic as the ones in Azure Window in Gozo Island, nor as stunning as the golden beach in Karpaz, North Cyprus.  I prefer the calmness with its rich seaside culture like the scene-stealing fishing port in Essaouira, I loved it there.  Here are some images of the beaches from Skhirat and Bouznika Bay.

Stay tuned for part 3!

Pack Your Beach Bag Right the First Time – We’ll Show You How

I went to the beach this weekend. On the surface, that sounds simple enough, but I am not a regular beach-goer. I’ve always loved the ocean, but I tend to be too much of a city-dweller to make it there with any regularity, and as of this weekend’s trip, it had been nearly two years since my most recent previous beach jaunt, and along with that, the last time I packed a beach bag. In that time, I had managed to forget a few things: I’m really pale, I don’t own a proper beach towel and my sunscreen-applying skills are at a third-grade level, among other things. (I didn’t even own a bathing suit?) I paid for some of those mistakes on my otherwise perfect beach day, and as a result, I’ve come to make sure that you don’t make the same mistakes I did on any impending vacations you may have planned.

Beach packing may seem logical, but packing is always a bit tricky because the excitement of the event can tend to take over the more sensible side of your brain. That’s especially true of the beach – colorful coverups! beach snacks! playlists for the car ride! Below, a guide to what we’d bring with us on the perfect beach day. Which may be next weekend, if we play our cards right.

The Reading List……Lartigue’s Riviera

Lartigue represents my ultimate lifestyle job.  He was not a fashion photographer, he was a photographer that lived the fashion of his time.

Every time I look at one of his books, it reminds me to recognize and shoot the simple beauty of my life.

The Reading List…..Poolside With Slim Aarons

All the time people tell me that after looking at my blog, they see someone on the street and think ‘that’s such a Sartorialist moment.’ I feel the same way whenever I’m at a beautiful resort or beach and see a situation and think ‘that’s such a Slim Aarons moment.’

Slim Aarons shot the kind of life that most of us dream of living. And even though it’s not my everyday existence, I want to challenge myself in the future to create my own modern version of that beautiful world Slim Aarons created through his images.

Online Shopping…….Setter Swim Trunks @ Orlebar Brown.com

As you can tell from the recent photos from Miami, Las Vegas and Rio I’ve been spending a  lot of time in my swim trunks lately.  My first choice for swimwear the last few years has been these Setter trunks from Orlebarbrown.com The  shorter length of the trunks is the number one reason I buy them, but the growing variety of colors and patterns is what keeps me buying more.  I also really like Sundek trunks, but I have to take each pair to the tailor to have them shortened to the same length as the Setter.

Don’t you find the longer length of most surf trunks drag on your legs while running or being active which makes them less comfortable to wear?

Miami: day 1

_MG_5069-copia

While I started writing this post I looked back to the one I posted yesterday, and couldn’t help but smile.
I’m experimenting different kinds of weather in these months: two days ago I was freezing in a snow storm in New York, yesterday I was for my first time on the beach in Miami. A city I’m starting to discover, which gave me a pleasant summer sensation in middle November.
After checking-in at Sagamore Hotel in South Beach Richi and I immediately visited the huge beach, had breakfast at News Cafe, walked hand in hand until South Pointe Park and visited the cuban area, Little Havana.
During our visit we also met Bob Votruba and his dog Bogart: they travel together for 9000 miles around United States to share a message of love for bullied kids. Read more about their project here, you won’t regret it. Enjoy Miami!

Enjoy the view!

Sestri Levante: day 1

TheBlondeSalad-64526-copia

As you probably know If you follow my Instagram profile @Chiaraferragni I've just came back from a 2 day trip to Sestri Levante, little town on the sea I had never been before.
The schedule of the 48 hours I spent there was easy and relaxing: typical focaccia lunch, some hours in the sun before I had to run under the umbrella (a must for my pale and delicate skin), walk in the centre, some photos, runs in the beach with Matilda at the sunset, happyhour near the sea and spaghetti alle vongole dinner. All this, for two days. A definitely pleasant stay I should say.
During these days I also managed to shoot the three outfits I wore: this is the one from the Sunday, back from the beach: J Brand shorts, Lanvin sandals, Stefanel oversize top with Chiara Ferragni for Yamamay lace bandeau bra and one of my first Miu Miu bags ever, that you probably remember from this 2010 post

My third day in Mykonos, last Saturday, went so fast: the morning started at the new resort store where I chose a Louis Vuitton total look to wear for a photoshoot (It's the red one you see in the photos).
Once finished we went to Namos Beach where, without any expectations, I posed for the first time for Vogue (and I was wearing a bikini and no makeup, who could say that?).
We then relaxed a couple of hours on the beach with fruit cocktails, sun and swims in the sea, before leaving towards Florence. Now that I'm home with the air condition which is not working I'm missing those days so much.
A particular thanks to Louis Vuitton team for these 3 dream days, and a big thanks also to all the people I met, which made this experience even more unforgettable.
Mykonos, I'll be back soon!

Mykonos with Louis Vuitton: day 2

TheBlondeSalad-56927-copia

Second day spent in Mykonos with Louis Vuitton: boat trip around the island, swim in the sea, relax on the beach and a walk in Mykonos centre. What's better than this?
I chose to wear a white coloured look: crochet dress and Chiara Ferragni for Yamamay bikini, both of the perfect shades for the island.

Mykonos with Louis Vuitton: day 1

TheBlondeSalad-56555-copia

After a huge breakfast we enjoyed the first day in Mykonos with Louis Vuitton in complete freedom, visiting Paranga beach and looking at the sunset from our room terrace, before meeting the other guys for dinner. One of those days I'm gonna dream about next week in Milan :)
And from today I'm in Florence for Firenze4ver!

Venice Beach again

These are the last shots of the week I spent between Palm Springs, Coachella and Los Angeles thanks to DL1961: we couldn't avoid going to Venice again (do you remember one of the first posts of the blog, shot over there? It looks like ages ago!).
Weather was really unusual for Los Angeles, but we anyway enjoyed every second spent together in Venice, before driving looking for Hollywood sign, get the tattoos done and having fun during our last night in California. A normal day I'd say...
 Hope I'll be back soon!

Topless

topless-garance-dore

When I was growing up in Corsica, beach fashion was this: topless.

My mother and her friends would roll down their one pieces (which would then become just bottoms)(and yes, trends are complicated: it was the fashion to go topless AND wear a one piece at the same time) as soon as their feet would hit the sand, and then roll them back up when it was time to go swimming, but then roll them back down in the water. Yeah, the whole thing was a little complicated. Roll up, roll down, roll up, roll down. All this means is that…

…I knew my mother’s friend’s breasts by heart.

Yeah, I got that the idea was to be as tan as possible without having tan lines, but really, I didn’t want to know that much about the people going to the beach. C’mon now, TMI!!!

The thing is that everyone was doing it. Either join in on the fashion, or be the leader of the losers.

It wasn’t so much my thing. Nudity, or semi-nudity, never did bother me… But the beach (or the pool) always seemed to be a very social place* and I never understood what was so great about going talk naked in front of all these people.

So I spent most of my adolescence being very attached to my bikini**, total nun-power.

And then the obligatory topless trend passed, and now, in Corsica, everyone does whatever they want and everyone is just fine with that.

Why am I going through all this?

Because now I live in the USA.

And here, being topless on the beach is like indecent exposure. It’s not necessarily illegal every where. But no one does it.

LAST minute edit : I was having dinner with friends yesterday and one of them, who has kids, told me that it was actually illegal to go topless in America, even for kids. Little girls have to have their top on. (This is pretty surprising for the French girl that I am : in France, you usually only start wearing a top when you become a teenager. All your childhood, you run on the beach only with the bottom. It’s still like that, isn’t it ?) Anyway. Maybe it depends on each state? Do you know?

Except maybe in Miami Beach, where I’m writing you from right now.

Well maybe because it’s a beach frequented by a lot of Europeans (Aaaaah, Miami). Here, you’ll find a few girls daring enough to go topless.?

Well, of course, people spend their time looking at them, of course, seeing as people just aren’t used to it. But in general, Miami is a VERY sexy city. Not necessarily topless sexy, but sexy none the less. It’s a little contradictory, I know.

Take East Hampton, for example, where NO ONE is topless. There you’ll find very chic beach outfits, fluid white dresses, straw hats, LL bean bags, you get it.

In Montauk, where NO ONE is topless, it’s super hipster on the beach, cut-off shorts, ironic vintage t-shirt…

But in Miami, where almost NO ONE is topless, I’ve seen a few oddities like:

- Three girls in stilettos and tiny bikinis at the pool. I observed them for you. So what they do is they take off their shoes to go swimming and to tan, but they put them back on to walk around the pool. I thought that maybe that’s what you do only at Hugh Hefner’s place, but actually, nope, it isn’t.
- Girls whose front was not topless but whose bottom was hardly covered with a tiny little thong (in France we call those “ficelle” which means “thread”)
- Girls who weren’t topless but with a bathing suit top so small that you can see top cleavage, side cleavage, AND under cleavage. Basically the top is a nipple cover.
- Gangs of girls in stilettos and high-heels on the street. With big hats. Not to go the the beach or anything, just strolling down the street. In Miami, it’s normal.

In short, you don’t go topless in Miami, but your body is exposed to the max of the max.

After the initial shock wore off I said things like, “Scott look!!! We’re in a Sean Paul video!” and the adaptation phase where I went “Hey, but I love Sean Paul !”, I ended up getting used to the atmosphere in Miami Beach*** and just accepted the fact that I looked like a nun in my cut offs and ironic vintage t-shirt.

And now, I actually like Miami.

You won’t find me strolling down the street in stilettos and a bikini any time soon. I’m saving that for my Sean Paul video reenactments, and those only happen at home****.

I always find that the more that you show, the less is left up the imagination.
I’ve always preferred suggested sensuality, the lighter beach outfits, even going topless at the end of the day when everyone has left the beach, or even skinny-dipping in the little secret creak that only I know about in my village in Corsica.

So yeah, I’m not against being half-naked in a relatively private setting, but on a beach that’s more crowded than 5th Avenue on Saturday, I prefer to keep my things to myself.
Total nun power like. What about you? How is it in your country? How would you like to do it?

—————–

* Maybe I grew up in a rather untouched part of Corsica?
** Except the time when I lost my SUIT BOTTOMS in front of everyone after a perilous leap into the pool.
*** The Miamians (yeah) would be oh so displeased that I’m talking about Miami Beach like it’s all of Miami. So, let’s give credit where credit is due.??
**** One day Scott filmed me dancing to Temperature and I had to threaten him to throw his phone out the window if he didn’t delete the video. Pffffff, guys.

Thailand day 8

TheBlondeSalad-38610-copia

Photo of the last half-day spent in Thailand at Club Med last Sunday, before our 15 hour flights to go back to Milan.
I wore again "Chiara Ferragni for Yamamay" white bikini (which is so much better with a bit of tan) and in the morning, for my first yoga lesson, other two pieces of the capsule collection: push-up pink bra and orange brazilian knicker with Alexander Wang oversize top, white shorts and one of my thai purchases, the bag. The guy you see in the video is Richi who, just before leaving, made a backflip on the trapeze, beating my performance over there :(
A big thanks to Silvia, Eddine, Adelle and all Club Med staff for this dream week!
P.S. Don't forget to check my week selection for BuyVIP!

Thailand day 5

TheBlondeSalad-37361-copia

Our fifth day in Thailand started with another Club Med excursion: we went sailing on a thai boat in Phang Nga bay, and then we reached a small village built on pile dwellings, sailing on a smaller boat.
For the day I wore two other pieces of "Chiara Ferragni for Yamamay" capsule collection: the yellow dress and the orange/animalier bikini, that you now can find in all Yamamay stores and online here.
At night, after a traditional thai dinner at the resort restaurant we enjoyed a beach party with lounge music under the sky.. This place gets better and better each day.

Thailand day 3

TheBlondeSalad-35904-copia

Third day in Thailand: we spent the entire day at Phi Phi island, in an excursion organized by Club Med that most of you suggested me and which turned out even better that I could think (also thanks to our guide Edin).
First stop was the legendary Maya Bay on Phi Phi Leh island.. Do you remember about the movie "The Beach" with Leonardo Di Caprio (my crush as a little girl)? Well, the island of the story is Phi Phi Leh and Maya Bay is the wonderful beach in which a lot of the scenes take place and in which we shot most of these photos: a wild natural park in which the only people who can stay at night are the guardians of the place. Tourists can visit the island as well, but they have to leave before 6 pm. Advice? Try to book an excursion which arrives very early in the morning: we arrived there at 9.30 am and there
still were few people, a true paradise!
Other stops were Loh Samah Bay, Pileh Bay e Monkey beach, all at PhiPhi Leh, in which we also went snorkeling around different kind of fish.
For lunch we moved to Ton Say Bay in another island of Phi Phi islands, Phi Phi Don which, instead of Phi Phi Leh is completely populated and too touristic for my taste. Before going back to the village we also stopped for a couple of hours at Bamboo Island, another small island with crystal water.
For all the day I wore another one of the bikinis of the capsule collection "Chiara Ferragni for Yamamay": orange and yellow bikini, one of my favourite items of the collection.
And today we're going on the elephants!
P.S: From today you can find in the widget on the sidebar my new product selection for BuyVIP (you only have to subscribe to the website to get the discounts). Good shopping!

LOOK OF THE DAY "PUNTA DEL ESTE"

Last Sunday I had the chance to have a -very quick- look of the day shoot at the beach in Punta del Este Uruguay with nothing but my flower 7 for all Mankind jeans a white tee and of course barefoot so I could play in the water and the sand...This has to be on my top 5 favorite posts ever on StyleScrapbook so far, just because in every single picture I feel like I really reflect how I am feeling right now, not to mention that being able to play at the beach for the first time in almost a year filled me with joy :)

In other news, I wanted to share with you that 7 for all Mankind are giving away a $1,000 dollar shopping spree and I really want one of my readers to win it! (unfortunately its only open to US residents and over 13 years old)... For more info click ➙ HERE, all you have to do is watch and share on Facebook! ;)

Good luck!

¡Buena Suerte!

Best view of Dubai

TheBlondeSalad-17284-copia

You understood it by now: I love skyscrapers and high buildings, especially when the view is so lovely. Here is why I really loved the restaurant in which we had lunch yesterday, Al Muntaha, at the last floor of Burj Al Arab. From that place it was easy to see Dubai "palm", Palm Jumeirah, which ends with the giant Atlantis (that we visited today).

Dubai day 1

Here is a mini photo reportage of (almost) all my first day in Dubai: beach all the morning (the sun on the skin in winter is marvellous, I'm used to ski holidays at Christmas time :D ) and first trip to Dubai Mall in the afternoon, including the visit to the lovely Aquarium which is breathtaking (look at the kid's face in the photo to believe it). At dinner I had the chance to meet Giulia and Alessandra, who have lived in Dubai for more than 15 years: we had dinner together At Reem Al Bawadi, a typical arabic restaurant, you'll soon see these photos as well.. Today we have an even busier plan and I want to enjoy this city 100%! Thanks so much to all of you for all the advice!
